Sally Home Chore
"There are those who make a difference and I like to say so when they do."
Sally, who lives in Minneapolis, always did all of her own lawn care, including raking and mowing. And, she loved it! Now, physical limitations prevent her from most of these activities and she is extremely grateful for the assistance Tree Trust's Young Adult Conservation Corps (YACC) has provided.
The several Tree Trust crews that mowed Sally's lawn this past summer did a good job and were careful with unique features of the lawn and her property. "They all made a totally positive impression."
Throughout her life, Sally has provided assistance to many who have had serious difficulties early in their lives. She knows how important - and challenging - it is to nurture a good self-image within these young people. Sally likes to be at home when the YACC crews are working. It's important to her to look each one in the eye as she expresses her gratitude and recognizes the fine job they're doing. She often prepares a cool beverage and brings her dog out to say hello.
Sally has been impressed with Tree Trust crew leaders. Her work and life experience have taught her that "how you do a job makes a big difference." She contrasts the stereotypical supervisor who watches occasionally while sitting in a car reading the paper, with the Tree Trust crew leadership practices. "I like the way they treated the workers. They work alongside the crew, teaching by example."
Sally hopes to continue receiving mowing services through Tree Trust in the future. She also truly appreciates having a service that demonstrates the same level of respect and care for workers as they do her lawn!
