Minneapolis Trees
Help make Minneapolis a greener city this spring!
Planting a tree is the easiest way to improve the value of your property, reduce your energy needs, shrink your carbon footprint and improve our air and water quality. In 2008, the City of Minneapolis, as a part of its Sustainability Initiative, is providing 1,000 trees to Minneapolis residents for less than the cost of a tank of gas. Do your part to make Minneapolis a greener city by planting one of these trees this May.
NOTE: You may order only ONE TREE PER MINNEAPOLIS ADDRESS. Please do not order more than one tree.
Things to Consider Before Ordering Your Tree
- Do not plant on the boulevard (between the sidewalk and street).
- It’s the law to call Gopher State One Call (651) 454-0002, at least 3 days before digging. They will mark buried utility lines for your safety.
- For directions on how to plant and care for trees, click here or, ask for information on pick-up day.
- Save money on energy by planting large shade trees on the west or east side of your home and evergreens on the north and west side of your home.
- Plant Bicolor Oak and Fall Fiesta Sugar Maple more than 30 ft from power lines and 15 feet from buildings to reduce future problems.
Now you are ready to CHOOSE and ORDER YOUR TREE.
