Learning with Trees

January 2008

Rethink Recycling

Trees help our environment in so many ways. They filter our air and water, provide shade and windbreak and beautify our communities. While planting new trees is a great way to have a positive impact on the environment, we also have to preserve and conserve the trees that are already in the ground.

Lesson: Recycle Your Own Paper

This is a fun activity for students to do indoors when it's too cold to learn in the outdoor classroom.

Featured School - Cambridge Middle School

Cambridge Middle School is a new school - this is its second year - in a growing community. Because of this there is lots of open space just waiting to be filled with trees.

When Cambridge Middle School was built, much of the property around it was put into native prairie by a company called Prairie Restorations. This prairie is just the start of outdoor learning at CMS.

Winter Tree Maintenance

Trees work hard for us all year long. Return the favor by taking care of our trees even in the depths of winter.
